Mideast Youth

Project Role

  • Front End Development
  • Wordpress Web Development

Mideast Youth is a site advocating for change throughout the Middle East and North Africa using digital media. It's led by 2011 Senior TED Fellow, Esra'a Al Shafei and is the sister site of Kurdish Rights. One of the goals of the project was to renovate the existing Wordpress theme to be as lite as possible, optimizing load times that were previously slowed down by an overuse of plugins.

Brad Sawicki - Chicago Web Developer and Designer

The seeds of my computer-dependent career began with a few simple DOS commands and a minor obsession with King's Quest I thru V. Twenty years, a few college Web courses and countless days/weeks/months spent behind the screen later, I now call myself a Web Developer with Web Design skills.

I've had the pleasure of taking part in the growth of a web firm from 3 guys in a basement to a dozen workers in a West Loop loft to 40 employees in an office. In October 2011, I set off to start my own creative agency, Eleven Eleven Creative, in partnership with a few talented friends. Our goal: Utilize the web to make the world a better place.

When I'm not getting off on great design and clean code I partake in the following: Playing music, watching music, planning our wedding in Sweden, searching for the perfect burrito (Taco Burrito Express #3), hugging trees and occasionally dropping blogs here.
